Father Responsible for Childhood Obesity

We often find obese offsprings. The scientists think that the reason for this obesity is due to their irresponsible fathers. This study done in Australia in almost 5000 youngsters found that fathers who do not set the limits of their children have obese children. The fathers who lay a boundary have a children of lower body mass index. This remarkable study has been done in Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. Melissa Wake, a hospital specialist thinks that men could help control childhood obesity. The study reveals a striking fact that mother has little role to play in the child’s obesity. It is the father who is responsible for the child’s health. Ms. Wake thinks that the focus of obesity reduction should be on the whole family.

The study has found that 40% of mother and 60% of fathers are overweight. The study was presented in a conference at Toronto this week. The BMIs (body mass index) of 4 and 5 years olds are compared to that of their parental behavior.

Earlier scientists found that childhood obesity was stable during primary school years, its nutrition and the physical activity levels. For example, think of a boy who comes from school and watches television and goes on eating junk food. He will more likely be developing fat than a guy who does regular exercise. Obese is a precursor to complications like diabetes, asthma, and cardiovascular disease. Obesity is mainly a result of laziness of not spending the amount of calories we are taking. For example, if we do not spend the calories daily we are taking it is going to deposit as fat and a person who has a tendency of obesity grow fatter than a thin person. Nowadays in the sedentary lifestyle and advanced gadget-driven life, people become more obese and they stop to think of their health. Finally when they start thinking, the diseases in the heart, gout, osteoporosis has already crept in and devastated the body.
